OUR HISTORY
Delta Sigma Pi was founded in 1907 at New York University School of Commerce, Accounts and Finance by Harold Valentine Jacobs, Alexander Frank Makay, Alfred Moysello and Henry Albert Tienken. In the academic world at that time, the formation of schools of business was relatively new. There were only a handful of such schools in the United States in 1906 and one such school, known as the School of Commerce, Accounts, and Finance existed at New York University.
In the opinion of these four men decided they should do something for the benefit of the student body at large. They decided to form a club that would be open to all business students. On April 2, 1908, the name Delta Sigma Pi was adopted by the membership and the bylaws were also approved at this meeting. Soon after, a motion was made to adopt the colors purple and gold as the official colors of Delta Sigma Pi.
For over 100 years, Delta Sigma Pi has been committed to promote and inspire the professional goals of its members and has become the foremost business fraternity for men and women. It is our intention to make a larger impact in the community, just as businesses in general have a unique opportunity to contribute to the larger community. Our educational programs such as the Delta Sigma Pi Leadership Foundation provide financial assistance, leadership development, and personal and professional improvement.
A great strength of our Fraternity is a membership as diverse as the business world, for which we are preparing our members. We are a mixture of different voices from different backgrounds that challenge fixed ways of thinking and lead us to excellent ideas at both the chapter level and in the business world.

OUR PURPOSE
Delta Sigma Pi is a professional fraternity organized to foster the study of business in universities; to encourage scholarship, social activity and the association of students for their mutual advancement by research and practice, to promote closer affiliation between the commercial world and students of commerce; and to further a higher standard of commercial ethics and culture and the civic and commercial welfare of the community.
OUR CHAPTER
The Omicron Sigma Chapter of Delta Sigma Pi was founded on May 22, 2004 by business-minded students at the University of California, San Diego. Our Chapter was founded soon after the Rady School of Management was established in 2001.
Since its founding, the Omicron Sigma Chapter has initiated over 300 Brothers and has shaped their lives professionally and personally. Our chapter has been continually recognized by the Fraternity as a Chapter of Excellence—a distinguished title representing the highest level of chapter achievement. As one of the current business fraternities on campus, our goal is to inspire professionalism, leadership, service, and brotherhood to the entire student body through events that develop these important skills.
Omicron Sigma has brought professional speakers, resume workshops, networking events, and interview workshops to the University throughout its thirteen-year presence at UC San Diego. Our efforts have garnered the support of corporate sponsors such as Kaplan, Mitchell, Amazon, Asus and more. With the help of Delta Sigma Pi, the Brothers of the Omicron Sigma Chapter continue to strive for greatness and have found positions at companies like Ernst & Young, Xerox, Disney Pixar, Deloitte, Merrill Lynch, Morgan Stanley, Samsung, Bloomberg, and more.
OUR PILLARS
PROFESSIONALISM
As America’s foremost Professional Business Fraternity for both men and women, our chapter of Delta Sigma Pi puts a large emphasis on continuously refreshing and practicing the essential aspects of professionalism. We hold several professional events throughout the year including - campus-wide case studies with invited professionals as guest judges, presentations from various different corporations, and many networking events.

BROTHERHOOD
Brotherhood is a high priority for all of the brothers in the Omicron Sigma Chapter, including alumni. Every quarter our chapter goes on a retreat together and spends some quality time with each other in order to deepen and create long lasting relationships. Brotherhood events, such as these retreats, foster a strong bond between brothers and in turn affects every other aspect of this Fraternity. These close-knit relationships push brothers to help one another grow professionally, collaborate on Fraternity plans/events, and create an open area for everyone to develop individually.
LEADERSHIP
The brothers of Delta Sigma Pi assume many leadership positions through several aspects of their lives including executive positions in DSP, internships/jobs, and many other organizations. The executive positions allow the brothers of DSP to get their voice heard and make a difference in the Fraternity by allowing them to take the responsibility of creating events or programs for the Chapter. Furthermore, many of the brothers eventually ‘pick up’ a little (a mentee), which requires a remarkable amount of leadership and compassion in order to create a strong big/little relationship.

SERVICE
Community service is an aspect many of the brothers enjoy about this Fraternity because it is a chance to give back to society. Service is one of our core values and therefore every quarter DSP joins and/or creates an event to give back to the community. One of our biggest events of the year include Relay for Life, where the brothers come together and participate at this event for 24 hours and stay up all night in order to support cancer victims.
